I remember when I first fell in love with this guy.
It was right before new years, a week or two before, and I didn't have much to do. I looked around the interwebs, which I do sometimes, and it usually isn't productive nor lifechanging. Sometimes it can be, though. I got to the Rolling Stone's top 100 guitar players, to see if Jimmy Page was in the top three as I remembered. He was, and I was happy. So, I looked around the top 100s. I found the top vocalists, Robert Plant was high on the list as expected, I was suprised at how high John Lennon and Bob Dylan placed on the list (they are GREAT songwriters, but as singers... They arn't technically good, but the feeling they put into it is great, so I guess they do count. I like they're singing very much, too XD) And I looked for Freddie Mercury, who in my opinion, should of placed a bit higher. Then I saw a familiar name- David Bowie. Who was this David Bowie? I had seen him before, him and his funny clothes and orange mullet, but had never knew what his songs really were. David Bowie. It said a lot of things about his singing, so I decided to look him up. In youtube, I typed David Bowie. I clicked on a couple things, heard bits of songs, a couple I kind of recognized He was alright. Then I saw an intriguing title- Life On Mars?- I clicked on it. With the first few seconds, I was hooked. Watching from his hair, then his eyes. Two dazzling blue mismatched eyes. Seeing this funny little man sing this song, this song that struck a chord with me, it had a feeling with it. It was almost sad, but it was wonderful. One of my favorite song.
Staring into those lovely eyes, I thought, at least for that moment, that maybe I could be entirely satisfied as a straight individual. Sadly, I've never seen or met a man quite like Bowie, or that character I saw in the video, so I may be wrong. Who knows. I liked the way his head moved, the way his teeth were so weird looking, behind those pink lips. It was makeup. I wouldn't dare wear it, but it was good on him. I saw some sort of reflection of myself. Odly enough. But enough about David Bowie. It is my 1000th post on my blog, and as you read through it, a nearly imposible feat (soon they'll have the 89000007 challenge- VERY HARD TO BEAR), I do not recommend the early months until Febuary 2011, as you read through it you can see my character become what it is today, more or less. I remember posting a cropped picture, one of just David Bowie's eyes, from this same music video. Now I give you his whole face, in my painting, no less. It's oil, by the way. My first real oil painting. Well, the first one was this beutiful one of a peach. I will show you:
